I was born in a Christian family. From my teenage years, I was taught many Bible stories in the children class of the local church every Sunday morning. I was helped to read the Bible every morning in a prayerful way, always coming before my Lord to receive His speaking through His Word. I remember in one of the youth conferences during the summer of 1959 where one of the speakers taught me that the word of God can enlighten me, nourish me, and give me growth in life just like milk. He showed me that I needed to love the Word of God – the Bible, as a newborn babe craving for the milk of the mother. First, I need to come to Christ every morning and confess my sins so that His cleansing blood can wash away all the defilement of the world because God’s Word is guileless, then I need to pray for His enlightenment when I read His Word. Time and time again when I would listen to Brother Witness Lee, he would remind me of the same thing, that is, that the Bible is the Word of God. When I receive it by faith and come to Him through His Word in a prayerful way, I will receive nourishment and enlightenment. I can testify that this admonition has led me through many trials and tribulations. Many times when situations would arise that would put me in despair I would come to the Word of God. His Word would strengthen me from within and at the same time, faith would rise up and echo the promises in God’s Word to give me joy to overcome the circumstance.

I am particularly grateful that Brother Witness Lee taught me to treasure the Body of Christ in a real way by pursuing daily fellowship with other believers and living out what our Lord has shown us, that is, Christ as the very essence of the Christian life. Over the years, wherever I have lived, through His sovereign hand, I have loved Christ and pursued the advancement in both spiritual experiences and understanding with a group of brothers and sisters who also pursued Christ in a pure and simple way. Many times some situations which caused me to be discouraged have been turned into rejoicing through much fellowship and prayer together with other believers. The Lord was able to lead me through all. I am truly grateful to these brothers and sisters in the local churches who have become my companions in my Christian walk and who have borne me through many of my trials and hardships. I have found that they are my strength and their admonition has become the light before my feet.

I have never received so much help in understanding the Scriptures as from the Recovery Version of the Bible by the Living Stream Publishers. I have learned to treasure the titles, and outlines of each book of the Bible. They help me to see the basic thought and main points in each section of the Bible. I was able to sort out many confusing issues through the help of the Recovery Version. I can testify that a study guide like this has greatly helped my understanding of the Bible and I truly believe that every Christian should have such a reference Bible.
