A Testimony of Thanks for the Local Churches and the Ministries of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee
The purpose of this page is to briefly describe my experience of meeting with the local church and to give thanks to the Lord for the spiritual edification I have received from the writings of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee.
I would like to give a brief background about myself. I have been a Christian since 1991; I began to meet with the local church in Austin the same year. I graduated from college in 1992. I married in 1994; my wife and I had our first child in March of 1999. I am currently working in the technical field in Austin, TX.
My experience in the local church has been exceptional. Only the Lord knows the amount of spiritual help and benefit I have received by meeting with the local church. I will mention only two matters that have been crucial for my Christian growth. The first matter that has affected me is the love that the Christians in the local church have for the Lord Jesus. There are many older Christians in the local church who have been pursuing Christ (Philippians 3: 8-14) for several decades. Since I have known them, I have seen their love for the Lord grow more and more. Having these older Christians as a pattern has ignited, kindled, and nurtured my love for the Lord Jesus day by day. (Mark 12:30) The second observation that has impacted my life greatly is the love, appreciation, and esteem that the brothers in the local church have for the Bible, the Word of God. This has encouraged me to practice to read, enjoy, and study the Word of God daily. The Bible has truly become food to me (Matthew 4:4).
Another important factor for my Christian growth has been the writings of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. The ministry of Watchman Nee has helped me to understand the subjective experience of the cross of Christ and the ministry of Witness Lee has brought me into the knowledge of knowing Jesus Christ as resurrection (John 11:25; Philippians 3:10) for the sake of His Body. The books by Watchman Nee that have particularly impacted me are What Shall This Man Do? and The Mystery of Christ. The general impression that I received from these books is that our Christian experience is not primarily for our satisfaction, but for God’s satisfaction and God’s purpose (2 Cor. 5:15; Eph. 3:11). How can a man bear the cross to live for God’s purpose? Man can bear the cross by the resurrection life of Christ (Philippians 3:10). Many of Witness Lee’s books have been a great nourishment to me in this area. The one book that brought this matter to the forefront in my Christian pursuit is The All-Inclusive Christ. I am thankful to the Lord that the writings of these two men have helped me to know Him, His purpose as revealed in the Bible, and the way for man to live for His purpose. I pray to the Lord that what I have learned from the ministry of the word by these men will become my experience for my whole life.
My life has been changed 100% because of the fellowship in the local church and the writings of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. Growing up I was taught that the Bible is not the word of God, but a good book. To the Lord’s glory I am now a person who loves Him and His word! What is impossible with man is possible with God. May the Lord have mercy on my family that we would continue “to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and unto the day of eternity. Amen. (2 Peter 3:18)
