Prophesying Meeting

The Prophesying meeting is a meeting we hold on the Lord’s day in various districts across Austin and the greater Austin area.  Church is not where where we go, but what we are.  We are the “called out” ones.  The ones called out of the world to be separated unto our dear Lord Jesus (1 Corinthians 1:2).  Our daily church life, which involves our running the Christian race (Hebrews 12:1) with other believers, is helped by our getting connected ( Ephesians 4:16) with other believers geographically near us (Acts 2:46), and for that reason we meet in districts during this morning meeting. We then all gather together to remember the Lord at His table meeting (Luke 22:19) in the evening in one location. For more on this meeting click here.

For you can all prophesy one by one that all may learn and all may be encouraged.” 1 Cor. 14:31

In the New Testament to prophesy has a much deeper meaning than in the Old Testament. Especially here in First Corinthians, it does not mean to foretell the future.  To prophesy means to speak for God and to speak forth God.  “…You can all prophesy…” This word clearly indicates that every believer has the ability to speak for God and even to speak forth something of God out of their own enjoyment of Him for the “building up, encouragement, and consolation to men” (1 Corinthians 14:3).
